Pretty'n'Punk

Every where I look at the moment there's skulls, crosses, and black black black. Personally I don't wear that much black or have ever worn skulls or crosses but I do think they look really cool on others. So I set out to find some looks that are girly but have the punky-kinda vibe.

I found so many great pretty and punky looks from the US website Nasty Gal.
Here are my favorite  picks-

I love this look, its edgy but the shape of the floaty skirt adds a feminine touch.

This look is a lot more girly due to pink but also has an edge with the frayed shorts, the black studded belt and the collared shirt.

Such a cool shirt the studs give a punky feel but the cut out shoulders show some skin and make it a little more pretty.

Everyone loves a biker jacket but sometimes I can feel a little manly in them so this coral jacket is perfect for me and is so different also.

Love this tank!

This pink studded slippers are from ZARA and are super cute. Studded pumps are everywhere at the mo and I love this pastel pink colour.

This bow detail on the back adds a girly, pretty feel to this urban outfitters metallic top.

There's a few celebs who channel the pretty'n'punk look, my favorites are:

Demi Lovato
( her studded denim jacket is from topshop! )

and also

Nicola Roberts.

What do you think?
Full on punk or do you prefer it with a girly feel?

The Most Stylish Olympic Teams!

Everyone has Olympic fever at the moment. The opening ceremony was absolutely amazing, I loved watching all the athletes come out, so proud to be representing their country, I expected them all to be wearing trackies but no! All the athletes looked fab! Either in very smart suits or wearing clothing that was a reflection of their country. Here are some of my faves:

The swedish team rocking their blue and yellows!

The Netherlands and Belgium looked so smart and colourful!

I loved that the Indian athletes incorporated their traditional clothes.

Team Germany looked super cool and casual.

I loved the Russian Athletes outfits and of course Maria Sharapova looked absolutely gorgeous!

And my favourite....

Team USA looked so chic and classy!! Loved the nautical look and they seemed to be having so much fun too!!

Not forgetting the Irish Athletes :)

Which is your fave??

Shoe Love

When you think of designer shoes you think of Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin or Alexander McQueen.

But a not so new designer with a modern and futuristic collection is big right now- Azzedine Alaia. Alaia has a new accessories range available on theoutnet.com and the shoes are amazing!

The collection is really modern with metallic and laser-cut looks.

What I really admire about this collection is that the shoes are really wearable and not wacky or slightly ridiculous looking.

It is really versatile with heels...

 boots...

 pumps...

 and sandals...

Love all these shoes..

The good news is they are all half price!
The bad news is they are still so priiicey!
All shoes are around the 500 euro marker... tear!

The cutest new model on the scene

Valentina Guerrero a ten month old baby, born with Down's Syndrome is the new face of  Dolores Cortes' new swim wear collection. The little cutie is the first person with Down's Syndrome to be the face of a big fashion campaign.. and she is doing such  a super job!

Not only is this raising awareness for Down's Syndrome but also widening the perception of beauty.

Little Valentina can give hope to other children with disabilities that they can achieve things they may deem as impossible.

Too cute!

A summer staple- the denim waistcoat...

Something I've been seeing everywhere is the denim waistcoat, with many variations be it patterned, cropped or in a variety of colours. Instead of buying a new one however I cut the sleeves off two denim jackets I was bored of and it worked out perfectly. Crazily enough, I have gotten so much more wear out of these since I cut the sleeves off!

My two jackets are from H&M and New Look

The scissors gave the edging a rough finish but i kinda like the frayed  look.

They're so versatile as you can throw them on over pretty much anything- long or short sleeved tops, they make you feel less nakey over a crop-top and they can also make a dressy outfit look a lot more casual and laid back.

Please excuse the cringe picture of me!

Here are a few of my favourite style icons rocking the look:

All of the gals are wearing the denim waistcoat in different ways but each look fab :)

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee has rocked the fashion world

Although it's not the norm for an Irish person to celebrate the Queen or other British holidays.. why not embrace it particularly when it has greatly influenced the fashion world. The Queen isn't exactly a modern day fashion icon but the wonderful world of fashion has celebrated her diamond jubilee. I actually met the queen yeeeears ago when I lived in London for a short time, I was only small, throwing a tantrum, crying for ice cream and don't really remember it properly but hey it's my claim to fame! haha!

Designers have gone into bling overload to celebrate the diamond jubilee... Sparkling silver tones and flashing diamonds are all over the catwalks this season.

Designers like Ralph Lauren and Chanel had gowns full on dripping in sparkles.

 Ralph Lauren Spring 2012

Other designers embraced the jubilee in other ways like Fendi with their silver foil eyeshadow look, very creative but I would not pull this look off!

Louis Vuitton celebrated the Queen with an imitation of a tiara, sure to make any girl look and feel like royalty!

I love fashions celebration of the queen without going full on Union Jack on us!
What do you think??

Cheap and Cheerful...

Miners Cosmetics is my new favourite affordable makeup brand. The cute packaging caught my eye first, it looked so different from anything else i've seen, and then I noticed the price.. So affordable! Miners Cosmetics take inspiration from the latest trends but makes it affordable to young women. The Miners website provides make up tutorials and an 'ask the expert' section but more importantly you can purchase the makeup online, like the more expensive brands.

I bought the blusher stick 'the cheek of it'  and I love it!

This blusher stick is so handy as you can carry it around with you without worrying about it falling apart like some powder blushes. You also don't need to worry about carrying around a blusher brush either. I was also assured that this blusher will last, all for only 5 euro! This stick also comes in a bronzer and a highlighter...

My other favourite was the 'love phat liner' eye liner, how cute is the wooden pencil! I really liked this pencil, and don't worry about it being too big, if you keep the pencil sharp it will create a thin line that you can always build up yourself.. this was also around the 5 euro marker.. perfect :)

My other Miners purchase was the 'Lash Curl' mascara, unfortunately this product wasn't as good as the others for me. It gave a very natural lash look whereas, as a mascara addict, I prefer lots of volume and length. However it kept it's promise as being a waterproof mascara. This product wasn't for me but maybe for a natural look :)

I think everyone should check out the miners website and all the other products, I guarantee you will be as impressed as I was.
